During my MFA studies at Colorado State and for several years before and after, I worked primarily with the built landscape in etchings, lithographs, and mixed media paintings, deeply textured and heavily worked. I seek out my subjects from the world around me, though my images do not frequently resemble the places that sparked their creation. While I always work from a referent, an actual place or location, I allow exaggeration, memory, and imagination to inform each image. I am interested in the human landscape minus human presence and the resultant sense of disquietude that exists in the familiar.
